Coreen is one of our more seasoned candidates having run both provincially and federally since 2014. Even though she knows it’s an uphill battle for small parties to be covered by the media and make an impact at the ballot box, she was encouraged by her recent run provincially where she received over 500 votes. “I sense there is a wave happening, and people are looking for alternatives. It may not happen this election, but many segments of our population, especially youths, recognize that the status quo governments are not working for them.” Coreen’s vision is to unleash the potential in all residents in this riding through less government bureaucracy and regulation.

Coreen is running because she wants to spread different ideas about how the government fits into our lives. “We are battling against more than 50 years of increased government control over how we are allowed to live our lives. Less government control and more personal freedom to choose what is right for ourselves and our families will lead to a more prosperous country.” She thinks the main parties fail to realize that the demographics across Canada are changing with more households headed by single people, seniors, and youths. Handouts and tax breaks for families don’t apply to their lifestyles. Libertarian Party of Canada ideas such as increased personal income tax exemptions, lower tax rates, and more choice for services will have a greater and more immediate impact on every Canadian’s standard of living.

Coreen has lived in Ottawa most of her life and attended Carleton University. In 2016, she completed a Master of Arts with a specialization in Global Change from Athabasca University. She loves to travel, and has also lived in both the United States and England. She enjoys cooking, gardening, and golfing. She shares her home in Beacon Hill with her husband, their dog, and two cats.
