What Drives Me: A People-First Vision

My campaign is built on 11 bold priorities, each designed to address the most pressing needs in our community while building a foundation for a sustainable and inclusive future.

✅ 100% Employment

Every resident should have the opportunity to work in a meaningful, well-paying job. I’m committed to creating 100% employment in our community by investing in local industries, supporting small businesses, and developing green jobs, co-operatives, and opportunities in the care economy. Skills training programs will be expanded, so every person can develop the skills they need to succeed.

✅ Universal Eyecare and Healthcare Access for All

Healthcare should be comprehensive and accessible to everyone. I will advocate for universal eyecare to ensure no one is forced to go without essential vision services. Additionally, I’ll work to ensure everyone has full access to healthcare, including dental, mental health, and prescription drug coverage, regardless of income.

✅ Basic Skills Training for All

In today’s economy, every person should have access to training that allows them to adapt and thrive. I will champion free, publicly funded training programs that help people develop skills in essential areas like digital literacy, trades, financial literacy, and languages. This will empower people of all ages to participate in the workforce and build meaningful careers.

✅ Housing for All

Housing is a fundamental human right. I will fight for policies that guarantee safe, affordable, and stable housing for everyone. This includes expanding non-market housing options, co-operatives, rent-to-own models, and public investment in affordable housing. Everyone in Esquimalt–Saanich–Sooke deserves a home they can afford and feel secure in.

✅ Permanent GST Exemptions

The cost of living continues to rise, and taxes shouldn’t burden our most vulnerable. I will advocate for permanent GST exemptions on essential goods like food, medicine, and basic household items, ensuring that people aren’t financially burdened by everyday necessities.

✅ Public Transit and Free Internet Access

Access to transportation and connectivity are critical for success in today’s world. I will push for fare-free public transit, ensuring that everyone—regardless of income—has access to reliable, affordable transportation. Additionally, I will fight for high-speed public internet as a basic right, ensuring all families and individuals can fully participate in the digital economy.

✅ Universal Food Security

No one should go hungry in a society as prosperous as ours. I will work to create a national food security strategy that includes support for community-based food systems, local agriculture, school meal programs, and other initiatives that ensure every person has access to healthy, nutritious food.

✅ Clean Air, Clean Water, Clean Land

Environmental protection is essential to our health and future. I will push for stronger environmental protections that safeguard our natural resources—our air, water, and land—for future generations. This includes supporting sustainable energy solutions, reducing carbon emissions, and investing in the green technologies of tomorrow.

✅ Better Government by Design

Government should work for people, not bureaucracy. I will fight for transparent, accountable governance that is responsive to the needs of the community. This includes participatory budgeting, community-driven decision-making, and making government more accessible, open, and efficient.

✅ Independent Leadership

As an independent candidate, my only allegiance is to you—the people of Esquimalt–Saanich–Sooke. I will not be bound by party politics or special interests. My commitment is to make decisions based on what’s best for our community, working collaboratively with anyone who shares that vision.
