I’m honoured to be the Green candidate representing Winnipeg West, where I’ve lived for the past forty-four years. In these challenging times, Green values are needed more than ever, values like ecological sustainability, democracy, inclusivity, collaboration, and compassion. The climate emergency – yes, “emergency” – needs these values like never before.
With graduate training and research in Community Health, I appreciate and advocate for upstream approaches like Basic Income to address poverty, homelessness, crime and adverse health and education outcomes. And with my training in Computer Science and decades of professional experience in Information Technology, I recognize the potential benefits – and the consequences – of Artificial Intelligence in our daily lives.
As a vegan for over thirty years, I have a profound interest in the impact of our food choices on the environment, our health and the animals. Having spent many years interacting with a global community of vegan physicians, dietitians and researchers, I have learned of the dramatic power of plant-based diets in the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases, leading to healthier and longer lives and decreased healthcare costs.
My experience in politics – running three times provincially and as the President and Deputy Leader of the Green Party of Manitoba – has prepared me well for this federal campaign. I look forward to it with immense interest and enthusiasm and welcome you to join our team.
