Biographie
Born and raised in Ottawa, I’m a proud Franco-Ontarian, father and grandfather.
I’m running in this election because I’m passionate about building a more sustainable, inclusive and affordable society and communities.
I firmly believe that mutual support strengthens our communities and fosters resilience amid rapid change. I’m committed to doing politics differently: to bring honesty, integrity and collaboration to government.
I’ve had a lifetime of community involvement, including fundraising and helping the needy, being a Scout leader, and a minor hockey league coach.
Now a General Foreman for a construction company, I’m an experienced Construction Supervisor/Foreman of Plumbing/Piping trades (ICI), which involves organizing and inspecting work for groups of workers, coordinating and supervising other trades. I’m recognized for down-to-earth people’s skills, and for working efficiently with others to deliver results. My education includes Business Administration and Architectural Technology from Algonquin College, and I have the Plumber’s Red Seal, steam and gas fitter certificates.
My experience and observations in diverse locations across Canada and abroad (including Chalk River Nuclear Research Facility, Suncor in Alberta, two years in Nunavut at the Canadian High Arctic Research Station) inform my concerns about our environment and social equity.
Our Ottawa—Vanier—Gloucester riding is a very diverse one. My priorities include assisting our communities to prepare for extreme weather, strengthening local networks to respond to emergencies, and programs to retrofit homes to save energy and be resilient in the face of climate change. Economic change provides an opportunity to train people for quality jobs in new clean energy industries.
Mutual support to foster resilient communities means recognizing that many people have significant concerns. These include the affordability of childcare, the ability to take leave to care for sick family members, the struggle with student debt and high living expenses for many young people. Access to timely health care is a challenge. I support active measures to find solutions that put people’s needs and well-being first.
