I’m Andrea Wood, and I am thrilled to be running as the Green Party candidate for Pickering-Brooklin!

I have been living in Pickering for over 10 years and have gotten to know and love this community. Our shared experiences have connected us in so many ways. It would be my honour to advocate for the views and concerns of my neighbours.

Why should you vote for me?

I am passionate about helping people. And right now, more people than ever need help. Between the housing crisis, constantly increasing grocery prices and shrinkflation, and the impending Tariffs from the US, we need people with a solid understanding of economics to set things right.

My education and experience as an accounting and finance professional gives me a solid understanding of budgets, tax, and using financial tools to optimize an organization’s position. There are far more creative ways of using money to benefit us all, and I intend to use my insights and my voice to offer unique solutions, so that we can all live better.

I am also passionate about our environment. Climate change is grossly misunderstood. It’s not just about rising temperatures, though that is a big part of it. Over-mining and over-production is causing irreversible damage to our beautiful land and is impacting our weather, our wildlife, and our health.

And it won’t be solved with cardboard straws (trust me, I hate them as much as you do!)

Being green doesn’t mean we have to give up our way of life. We just have to come up with creative solutions that are sustainable, that respect the world around us, so that future generations will continue to have clean water, fresh air, and green space to just be.

We all want to make Canada – and the world – a better place. I believe we can do it, together.
